Reservation / Cancellation (payment policy)
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. At the same time a secondary Supplier deposit of 15% of the remaining balance due will be taken, please ensure that you have the funds available on your nominated account at this time. The final balance due will be required 45 days prior to departure.Failure to pay the balance 45 days prior to departure may result in cancellation of the booking and loss of the deposit. In the event that the booking is placed less than 45 days prior to departure, the price for the hire must be paid in full at the time of booking.

The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
Cancellation of the booking at any stage prior to departure will result in the loss of any monies paid unless the Company can replace the booking, in which case there will be a return of all monies paid by the Hirer less an administration fee of 20% of the full hire price plus any shortfall between the price of the originally booked hire period and the price of the replacement booking.

Cancellations can only be accepted in writing.

If a vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever, no refund will be available.

Use of the Vehicle
The Hirer agrees that the use of the Vehicle is expressly limited and restricted to the Hirer.
The Hirer agrees that he/she has examined the Vehicle and that it is undamaged and in good condition and repair, mechanically and otherwise, except as may be specifically noted on the vehicle check out form.

The Hirer must NOT:
- allow or permit the Vehicle to be used for any illegal purpose, race, contest or performance test of any kind;
- allow or permit the Vehicle to be used on anything other than a sealer surface;
- allow or permit the Vehicle to be used to tow or push anything, without the written consent of the Company
- sublet or let the Vehicle on hire to any other person;
- carry more passengers than may be properly accommodated by the seat belt restraints provided in the Vehicle or carry a greater load than that for which it was built;
- drive whilst under the influence of drugs or whilst having a blood alcohol content that exceeds the legal limit in the country in which the Vehicle is being driven;
- carry passengers for payment of any kind;
- use the Vehicle when it is damaged or unsafe;
- operate or permit the Vehicle to be operated in breach of any legislation, regulations, rules or by laws relating to road traffic and use.

The Hirer must:
- maintain all of the Vehicle’s engine oil, brake fluid and engine coolant levels to the manufacturer's specifications and ensure that the tyres are maintained at the manufacturer's recommended pressure as provided in the Vehicle manual;
- keep the vehicle keys under their personal control at all times and produce such keys if the Vehicle has been stolen;
- generally do all things necessary to keep and maintain the Vehicle in its current state and condition;
- ensure that when the vehicle is in motion, passengers are seated in the designated seats, wearing the seat belt provided and comply with any applicable child restraint laws;
- ensure that when the vehicle is in motion the gas is turned off, all windows in the accommodation part of the Vehicle and all internal and external doors are closed and properly secured.

Security deposit.

The Hirer must pay a Security Deposit of €2000 at the time of collection of the vehicle. The Security Deposit will be returned to the Hirer provided the Vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, in a clean condition and with a full fuel tank.
The Hirer’s liability is not limited to the sum held as a security deposit and in the event of damage to or loss of the vehicle, the total amount of the Hirer’s liability will be notified to the Hirer on return of the Vehicle or within 14 days of the return.

Deductions from Security Deposit.
If the vehicle is returned with damage or loss which gives rise to a deduction from the Security Deposit, the deducted amount will be determined by reference to the Company’s preferred repairer or the Tariff of repairs and replacements published by the Company.

Driver licencing
Drivers must be between the age of 25 yrs and 70 yrs at the start of the hire period unless otherwise agreed by the company. Only drivers who produce a valid licence (which must be valid for the whole hire period) and who attend the hire depot in person are allowed to drive. Photocopies, faxes and scans of licences will not be accepted.

Anyone wishing to drive the Vehicle must produce a full drivers licence which must have been held for a least two years. If the licence is not in a language that uses the Roman alphabet, an International Drivers Licence is also required. If the drivers licence has no photo, other identification with a photo to prove identity must be produced (for example, a passport, National ID card etc). United Kingdom residents must provide both parts of their driving licence (i.e. the paper copy and the photo card).

Licences showing endorsements (points) will be considered on an individual basis. Normally 3-6 points for speeding or traffic signal violations will be accepted but any endorsements must be notified to the Company for consideration at the time of booking.

In addition to the Hirer, additional drivers can be added for a fee of €25 per hire, provided they meet the criteria and conditions as specified above.

No refund will be allowable if drivers cannot comply with these terms.

Insurance cover
Our Vehicles are covered by fully comprehensive Insurance for the period of each rental. This insurance is valid in the majority of Western European countries. Travel to Eastern Europe is limited to the European Union countries. The Hirer must inform the Company at the time of booking if they plan to travel outside of France.

The Hirer will be responsible for the excesses shown below unless third party liability can be established.

Insurance cover is provided subject to acceptance of the driver(s) by the company.

Insurance Excess.
There is an Insurance Excess which must be paid by the Hirer in the event of loss of or damage to the Vehicle or its equipment where no third party liability can be established. See the table below for details of Insurance Excesses.

It is not possible to reduce the Insurance Excess – the Company does not offer CDW cover.

Insurance cover Insurance Excess
Theft of the hired vehicle (or damage caused by the attempted theft of the vehicle) its equipment or contents €1000
Damage to the hired vehicle through collision with an identifiable third party vehicle €1000
Any damage to the hired vehicle except where the damage is caused by collision with an identifiable third party vehicle €2000
Theft of the hired vehicle if stolen with keys inside Up to replacement value of vehicle
Windscreen breakage (where the windscreen cannot be repaired free of charge under insurance) €250
Damage to and loss or theft of personal belongings Not insured

Where damage to the vehicle is caused by collision with a third party vehicle, there must be clear identification of that vehicle and an Accident Report Form, signed by both parties, must be submitted to the Company.

The following losses are not insured and therefore the Hirer remains liable for the full cost of repair or replacement as a result of:
- Damage to the interior of the vehicle
- Damage to the underside of the vehicle
- Damage due to neglect, misuse or unauthorised use of the vehicle
- Damage due to freezing weather conditions (e.g. allowing the water system to freeze and cause burst pipes or fittings)
- Damage to accessories
- The loss of the vehicles keys or locking the keys in the Vehicle (this may include replacing the locks)
- Damage to tyres, wheels and mirrors
- Use of incorrect fuel (the correct fuel to use is Diesel)
- Recovery of or damage to the vehicle in the event that it has been driven on an unsealed surface or has become bogged down or stuck

The insurance excess applies in respect of each claim, not the hire period as a whole.

Our insurance does not cover damage to or loss of personal belongings. We strongly recommend that the Hirer purchases holiday insurance to cover personal belongings.

Theft of the Vehicle
The vehicle is covered by insurance in the event of theft.

However, the insurance is not valid if the Vehicle is stolen whilst the keys are inside it. In this instance, the Hirers liability is not limited to the amount of the Security Deposit. For your own protection, we advise you to lock the Vehicle whenever it is unattended and always remove the keys from the vehicle and keep them on your person when parked, even if only for a few minutes. This condition applies in all circumstances, including for example, whilst filling up with fuel.

Early termination of the hire period due to damage to the vehicle
Any damage for which the Hirer or approved driver is responsible which prevents the vehicle’s continued use constitutes early termination of the hire agreement. In such a case, there is no refund for unused days and the liability of the company will be restricted to the benefits provided under the roadside recovery insurance.

Accident and loss reporting
Any accident, loss or breakdown (no matter how small) must be reported to the company immediately. By doing so, the Company may be able to help mitigate the hirers liability under the Insurance Excess arrangements. The Hirer may also be required to complete an Incident Report Form on return to the hire depot.

Any accident involving another vehicle, damage to other property or resulting in injury to any party must be reported to the police within 24 hours and the Hirer must complete an accident report form. The Hirer must return a copy of the completed Police report to the Company.

In case of the theft of the Vehicle, it is mandatory to file a report with the police within 24 hours of the theft. A copy of the Police report and the keys of the vehicle must be returned to the Company. The Hirer may be liable for the replacement cost of the Vehicle if the keys and the report are not returned to the Company.

In addition to the cost of repairs or replacements, the Hirer is liable to pay the Company an Accident Administration Fee of €45.

Breakdowns
All of our Vehicles are insured for roadside recovery in the event of a breakdown or accident and a 24hr phone line number is provided on the windscreen of the Vehicle.

In the event of breakdown the Company will endeavor to provide a replacement vehicle. If no replacement vehicle is available, the liability of the company will be restricted to the benefits provided under the roadside recovery insurance.

Reservation / Cancellation (payment policy)
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. At the same time a secondary Supplier deposit of 30% of the remaining balance due will be taken, please ensure that you have the funds available on your nominated account at this time.

Departure formalities

The collection time for the Vehicle is 1530 to 1830 on the commencement date of the hire period unless the Company agrees to an alternative time in advance.

Upon arrival, the Hirer should expect to fill out a hire agreement, to leave a Security Deposit of €2000, to show a valid driver's licence and to inspect the vehicle before leaving. Please respect our collection times and allow around one hour for departure formalities and vehicle familiarisation.

Return formalities
The return time for the Vehicle is strictly between the hours of 0800 and 0930 on agreed day of return unless the Company have agreed to an alternative time by prior arrangement.

The Hirer must return the Vehicle in a clean condition. The Vehicle and its inventory will be checked for damage and any shortages.

The Hirer will be deemed to have returned the Vehicle to the Company only when the Company takes possession of the keys and the Vehicle and upon completion of a vehicle check in form. The Hirer will remain responsible for the Vehicle until such time as the Vehicle is deemed to have been returned.

The Company’s definition of a clean condition is:
- The toilet and the waste water tank must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle and the toilet must be clean.
- All cupboards and rubbish bins must be emptied and the rubbish disposed of.
- The Fridge/freezer must be emptied and wiped clean with a suitable detergent.
- The hob, kitchen and bathroom must be wiped clean.
- The upholstery and curtains must be free from dirty marks.
- The floors must be swept and wiped clean and all other finishes wiped clean.
- All crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and glassware must be clean and ready to use.
- The bed linen must be stripped.
- The outdoor table and chairs must be clean.

The Company reserve the right to charge a €150 cleaning charge if the Vehicle is not returned in a clean condition. Should the fuel tank not be full, diesel will be charged at the rate of €2 per litre plus a €50 refueling charge.

Late return
If the Hirer is going to be late returning for any reason, they must advise the Company immediately. Returning the Vehicle after the due return time, without prior agreement will result in a charge of €250 per day or part thereof.

Extension of hire
The Company will be pleased to extend the hire period if required, subject to the availability of the Vehicle.

Vehicle availability
If the reserved vehicle is not available due to circumstances beyond the Company’s control, the Company reserves the right to substitute a comparable vehicle at no extra cost to the Hirer. In the event that no substitute vehicle is available the responsibility of the Company is limited to the return of all monies paid by the Hirer.

Violation of road regulations
The Company is not responsible for speeding tickets, parking tickets or other infraction during the hire period. The Company will supply the Hirer’s details to the authority levying such penalty and will provide the Hirer with a copy of any traffic violation notice. A €30 administration charge will be charged for each occurrence.

Animals
No animals are permitted in our vehicles. If the Hirer chooses to ignore this policy, the full cost of any cleaning or repairs for damage caused by animals will be incurred by the Hirer.

Smoking
The Company operates a strict no smoking policy in all vehicles. If the Hirer chooses to ignore this policy, the full cost of any special treatments, cleaning or replacements to eradicate the odours left by smoking will be incurred by the Hirer.

FAQ

Can I collect the motorhome from any other location?
No, all hires must start from our depot due to insurance restrictions.

Do you offer one way hires?
No, our vehicles can only be collected from and returned to our depot.

Is luggage storage available at the location?
There is no luggage storage at our depot. If you are leaving your car at the depot, we suggest you unpack your bags and leave them in your vehicle for the duration of your hire. If you are arriving by other means, try to bring only soft luggage than can be easily stowed in one of the cupboards inside your motorhome.

What kind of instruction will I be given about the vehicles, their appliances, and how to use them?
You will receive a full introduction to the motorhome as part of the check-out procedure. The process involves an instructional walk-around of the vehicle with one of our knowledgeable staff.

You will also receive a Vehicle Instruction Pack which contains all the essential information you need about the vehicle and help with other aspects of your holiday. We will not consider letting you leave until you are comfortable and familiar with the working of your motorhome.

Are there grocery and other stores near the rental depot?
There are a range of supermarkets and local stores close to our depot. Information will be included in your Vehicle Information Pack.

Are motorhomes hard to drive?

Our Motorhomes are based on modern, powerful vehicles so are no more difficult to drive than a medium sized modern van. They are Left Hand Drive, have manual transmission, power steering, ABS brakes, driver/passenger airbags, electric windows and powerful demist/air conditioning systems. They also have larger mirrors to allow the driver to see clearly down the sides of the vehicle.

Therefore, any driver who is comfortable with a normal car should be able to drive a Motorhome without problem.

However, motorhomes of course, have a larger "body” than a car so extra care must be taken when manoeuvring in tight spaces, parking or in heavy traffic. Once on the open road, you will quickly find that the Motorhome handles very much like a car.

During the check-out process, a member staff will explain all controls of the vehicle to you in as much detail as you wish and you can take as much time to become familiar with your vehicle as you feel you need.

How does the electrical system work?

There are three forms of power available in our motorhomes:

Battery power: All the systems on board (hot/cold water, lighting, fridge, heating) will work whilst the engine is running and will continue to work for sometime after the engine has been switched off. How long they will continue to work for depends upon how much power you use from the batteries but as a rule, all systems will continue to work for up to 3 days before needing to recharge the batteries. Recharging the batteries can be done by running the engine (for approximately 1 hour after a 3 day period) or by connecting the mains power lead.

Mains power: The systems on board will work indefinitely whenever there is a Mains Power lead connected to the Motorhome. This lead will continuously top-up the battery charge level and give you 220v sockets inside the Motorhome (to run small appliances such as hair dryers, phone chargers etc).

Gas power: The fridge in the Motorhome will also run on gas which allows you to extend the life of the batteries when not connected to Mains power. There is enough gas in one bottle (and there are two onboard) to run the fridge constantly for two weeks in average temperatures. The hot water and heating systems also run on gas.

By carefully managing which power source you use, it is possible to treat a Motorhome just like home – the systems are easy to understand and are fully explained during the handover meeting.

Are there 220v sockets available in the Motorhome?

Yes but the sockets will only work when the Mains Power Lead is connected. The 220v sockets will allow you to run hair dryers, phone chargers, computers etc.

What MPG can I expect from the motorhome?
All the motorhomes in our fleet are based on modern van chasssis with powerful, responsive diesel engines. Economy will rely to a certain extent on driving style and road conditions but you should expect to achieve around 30mpg (6.5kms per litre)

What type of fuel does a motorhome use?
All our motorhomes are powered byDIESEL engines. 1 litre of diesel currently costs around 1 € in France (Oct ‘09)

Do you have motorhomes with automatic transmission?
No, all our motorhomes have manual transmission

What equipment does the Motorhome have and what is included in the price?

Our motorhomes are equipped with:
- Bedding and towels for all members of the hire party including duvets and duvet covers, pillows and pillowcases, mattress covers, towels and tea towels.
- 2 propane gas bottles (one full)
- 1 bottle of toilet chemicals
- Safety equipment including warning triangle, high vis jacket, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, spare bulbs and fuses, user manual
- 1 water hose
- 1 water storage container
- 1 electric cord + European adapter
- 1 broom + dustpan & brush
- Guide to camp sites and servicing points of France
- Outdoor table and 4 chairs
- Bicycle rack
- Crockery cutlery and glassware for 4
- 1 can opener, 1 corkscrew, 1 bottle opener, 1 frying pan, 1 sauce pan, 1 salad bowl, 1 platter, 1 sieve, box of matches.

Can small children travel in the motorhome?
Baby and child travel seats can be provided for an additional charge but must be specified and booked in advance. Please detail your requirements by e-mail and we will provide a quotation. You are welcome to bring your own baby and child travel seats. The motorhomes have conventional lap strap and diagonal seatbelts.

Where can I stay in the motorhome?

There are almost 11,000 campsites in France which are to be found around major cities, in rural areas, and always near popular attractions. We also provide a guide to over 9500 independent properties where you can stay for free for up to 24hrs in locations such as vineyards, chateaux and private estates.

France extends a warm welcome to motorhome travelers with many towns and smaller villages offering "Aire de Service” – dedicated service areas for motorhomes where you can empty waste water and refill fresh water tanks for free. Many also offer very low price or free overnight halts – mostly in pleasant surroundings. All of these areas are well signposted and to help further, each of our vehicles has a guide to help find them.

For those who prefer to stay in total isolation, France offers a wealth of opportunity. There are only a few areas where "camping sauvage” (or wilderness camping) is prohibited and one of the greatest joys of a motorhome holiday is that you can break your journey whenever or wherever you wish (parking restrictions for motorhomes are usually well signed so it is easy to avoid being asked to move once settled for the night).

Staying on official campsites offers a greater level of facilities, amenities and security so the choice is truly yours.

What facilities will I find at campsites?
Campsite facilities vary greatly dependant on many factors, however the facilities commonly found at many campsites would include: electricity and water, washing machines and dryers, swimming pools, recreation rooms, playgrounds, and on-site convenience stores.

How much can I expect to pay per night for a campsite?
Campsite rates vary based upon time of year, facilities, and location. Based upon these criteria you can expect to pay between 10 € and 30 € per night in high season but a lot less during low season periods.

Is it necessary to make reservations for campsites?
In most cases it is not necessary to book ahead but at busy times of the year and at particularly popular tourist destinations, it may be best to make advance reservations.

Do you provide any campsite or service area guides or maps?
Yes we provide a detailed guide listing "Aires de Services” (where you can empty waste tanks and refill with fresh water) together with a guide to the campsites in France plus a guide to over 9500 free halts where you can stay for up to 24hrs with out charge.

Is it possible to camp in the wild?
Yes in very many places throughout France you are allowed to stay for short periods in public places although campsites generally offer better facilities, amenities and are more secure.

If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

France Motorhome Hire Insurance
